We offer minor repairs to full service for your historic windows. We specialize in wooden windows but also service steel windows. Site assessments are needed to ascertain appropriate repairs.  We create Do-Not-Exceed budgets, charging hourly labor and material within the budget set.

Basic Repairs

These are repairs that can be made in-situ. Basic repairs include broken glass, spot glazing, problem-solving operating issues.

Window Box Restoration

This upgrades the window box for better functionality and weatherization. Needs will vary, but services can include paint scraping, replacement parting beads or stops, sill repair or replacement, and weather stripping installation.

Sash Restoration

Window sashes are removed from the window box and the opening is boarded up. Sashes get a full paint strip. Glass and glazing putty are removed.  The sashes are sanded and cleaned. The wood is treated with linseed oil, and glass is rebedded and reset. The sash gets new glazing, oil-based primer, and two coats of acrylic-based paint.

Full Restoration

Sash and window box restoration. Sashes are removed for a full restoration as described above.  Sash cord is often replaced. The window box is paint stripped, cleaned, primed, and repainted. Any structural issues, like rot, are addressed. Restored sashes are reinstalled for optimal operation.
